Gunther's Almost Little Sister

A few weeks ago, Gunther almost became a big brother. If you have read the previous posts, you will know that I went on a Hippie Road Trip to a Hippie Festival. It was on the trip home that Gunther almost got a little sister.
As we were driving thru Arizona, we made a pit stop while on an Indian Reservation. Out running around the parking lot of this little podunk gas station were two little puppies. The one was super friendly and let us pick it up right away. She was very cuddle-ly. While I was holding and playing with the friendly puppy, a guy came out of the station and asked if we wanted to take her home. I said no, we had a long drive ahead of us. When I told Brittany that, she said "We'll take her! I know of someone that is looking for a puppy! She would have a much better life if we take her home with us!!" So I went and found the guy and made sure it was really ok for us to take her and to ask what kind of dog she was and how old. He didn't really know anything other then he thought she was 2 months old and told us to take her.

And that is how we ended up with this cutie riding along.
Jake told us that if we took this puppy home, it had to go to someone else. He was afraid that he would fall in love with the puppy and then he and Brit would have 3 dogs.

As we were driving down the road, we were trying to think of a cool name for such a cool dog. We finally agreed upon Arizona, as we did find her in Arizona. Another hour or two down the road, we decided that her middle name should be Mexican Water, as that was the "town" that the gas station was in. And later, we started combining all of our last names, trying to come up with a joint last name for Arizona. The combinations we came up with were: Marlockliam, Wilmarlock, and Warlock. After consulting everyone (including Jason who was at home) it was determined that her full name would be Arizona Mexican Water Warlock, and call her Zona for short.

Jake was correct in that by the time we got home, no one wanted her to go to another home. We determined that someone in the car should take her. And it was voted that I should get permission from Jason to bring Zona into our family.
After getting home and talking to Jason, we set up a day for Zona to spend with us and Gunther to see how she did. Unfortunately, things got really crazy for us that week and the Zona day was cancelled. Jason and I determined that we wouldn't be able to devote enough time to raising Zona at this point. So instead, a home was found for her with someone that did not go on the trip. We were all kind of sad to see her go, but it was the best for her. We hope to maintain visiting rights with her and her new family as she grows up.

And that is how Gunther almost had a little sister named Zona.

  2. That is one cute little doggie. I'm glad she has a home because I really can't handle any dogs right now!
