Tuesday Tip: Packages of Multiples

This week's Tuesday Tip actually comes from my sister, Rachel, who shared this method a few years ago.  Unfortunately, I don't feel like I had some great examples to show you, so I'm working with what I've got!

When you buy general household goods, and even some groceries, there are a lot of items that you can get in packages of multiples be it bulk packaging, or individually packaged items grouped together in one large package. If you shop of Costco, Sam's, or other bulk-type stores, you will have a lot more of this. Some examples are: toilet paper, tissue boxes, wipes, toothpaste, canned foods, etc. Hopefully you get the idea.

The tip for this week is when you return from shopping, completely un-package, or unwrap, everything that is packaged in multiples. Or, for items like toothpaste (and other things I can't think of right now), go ahead and take it out of the box before putting them away in storage. Rachel said her little kids loved to help unwrap everything after a shopping trip, and also helped put it away.

Here are my few examples that I have available to show you:

What Makes Home "Home?"

We have been on vacation this past week, and just returned home Saturday. I think most people would agree that usually arriving back home from being away is a relief. There's just something comfy about being back in your own space, even if your time away was amazing. But what is it that makes your home "Home;" that comfy space that is your own?

I thought I knew what the answer was. But, I don't. Driving home Saturday, to this house and space that we have lived in for exactly one year, five weeks, and four days, I didn't really want to return here. At the risk of sounding like I'm a sappy, emotional person, I'm going to admit to even crying a little bit while we were driving home because I didn't want to come here.

It is said that "home is where your heart is," and "home is with family," and all kinds of other little cliché sayings about home. People also say that home is wherever you are, or wherever you have a roof over your head and food to eat, or wherever it is that you determine in your mind to make "Home." Over the past year, I have come to despise all those sayings, as none of them have come true for me since we moved to Kansas. If home is truly where the heart is, then I honestly have no idea where my heart is. 'Cause this definitely does not feel like home, and I have no flippin' idea where I feel at home anymore.

I have really struggled with our entire move to Kansas in more ways than I ever imagined, and probably more than anyone will ever know. It has been baffling to me, though. I have moved many many times in the past 11-12 years, and have never hated a move, or living space, as much as this one. I have lived in an apartment, a duplex, two basements, a single-wide trailer, the main floor of a house, a few bedrooms, two little houses, and now

Recipe Reviews! Monster Cookies

This week's Recipe Reviews are all about Monster Cookies!!
I have not made Monster Cookies in ages. My brother-in-law recently made, and sent us, some of his special Monster Cookies. After getting his recipe, I decided to dig out all of the Monster Cookie recipes that I had (there were five) and compare them. Two of the recipes were exactly alike, and the rest all had something different, be it an amount or an ingredient.
I decided to make all four different recipes, have a group of people do a blind tasting (not knowing which cookie came from who's recipe), and take a vote for the best cookie. That happened just yesterday; I had five people (four adults, one child) taste and vote for the best Monster Cookie.
My disclaimers for this event: I only made a 1/4 batch of each recipe (and they still made over two dozen cookies each!!). I followed the recipes exactly while using the alterations from the people that gave me the recipes. I formed the dough ball sizes according to the recipe instructions (using the ice cream scoop when it called for it!).

The Final Products
Now, for the different Monster Cookie recipes!

My Reading Reviews: The Chronicles of Narnia

Since I'm still figuring out how to do book reviews, I'll re-post these disclaimers just as a reminder.
  • I'm not 100% sure what a book review looks like, and it's been a while since I wrote a book report for school.
  • I think book reviews are subjective to the reviewers personal, and natural, propensities, opinions, and beliefs.
  • I am going to try and be objective.
  • I am open to your thoughts and constructive criticism regarding my book reviews, and suggestions on how to be a better reviewer.
This month's book review is on an entire series once again. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or unhelpful to you guys.

The Chronicles of Narnia by the author C. S. Lewis

There are seven (7) books in this series, and that number may not be a coincidence though I can't say for certain. The books are titled:
  1. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
  2. Prince Caspian
  3. The Voyage of the "Dawn Treader"
  4. The Silver Chair
