This guy: Jason. One of my favorite people whom, I have finally come to realize, loves me unconditionally. Even though I'm not always very lovable. I don't express that he is one of my favorites very well, especially over the past year when I've struggled to have any feelings at all, for anything.
But deep down at the bottom of everything, he is one of my favorite things on this earth. And I would do well to learn how to let him love me unconditionally, without question.
This Little Pumpkin...
...who started out so tiny.
We've had quite the journey, you and I, even since before you were born. You've been along for the ride even when I was at my utter worst, and you loved me unconditionally, too.
No matter what, you always get excited to see me and have the biggest smile to share. It's been a process, but I can truly say that I love you no matter what, and you're one of my favorite things, too.
By the way, I'm really glad you are a strong little girl and don't give in to peer pressure. Although technically my telling you "no" isn't peer pressure; I just hope you can always use that determination to stand up for yourself when you need to.
This handsome dog. Gunther. We used to be pretty good buddies.
Now he graciously (most of the time) put's up with this. And sheds hair worse than ever, it seems. Even though I get frustrated with his energy, or constant need for ice cubes, or finding his hair everywhere, he are one of my favorite things, too. I'm glad he has been with me for the past 5 years, and I'm glad that he forces me to get outside.
Not a tangible thing, but the special bond these two have is one of my favorite things. I've worried that it would change with them not being able to even see each other most days. But thankfully it hasn't. She loves her Daddy so much.
If she's awake when he leaves for work, she has to carry his lunchbox around the living room, and then hand it back to him, before he can leave; it's become routine. That's a lot more enjoyable then her running after him crying, or her going to his bedroom door and knocking, reaching for the doorknob, and pushing on the door trying to go see him while he's asleep.
"Dad" is her first legitimate word, and she sings it a lot, as well as saying it if she hears him walking through the house. I desperately hope that she will continue to have that special bond with Jason as she grows up. It truly is one of my favorite things.
I have two more favorite things, but I don't have a picture of them: Peanut Butter and Chocolate. But not just any peanut butter or chocolate; it is a specific brand and kind. Adams Natural Crunchy Peanut Butter, and Ghirardelli's 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate Baking Chips. I've told Jason that's all I need for Christmas or birthday presents. (And throw in a box of Honey Maid Graham Crackers for good measure, if you want!) When I get my next supply, I'll put up a photo so you know what to look for.
I have other favorite things in this world, but these right here are the most important to me. And I would do well to always remember that.
