An Afternoon At the Woo

(Which is pronounced "voo" and comes from the name, Vedauwoo.)
Jason and I took one of our few Sunday afternoons together and went out and hiked Turtle Rock Trail out at Vedauwoo.

The Woo is well known for lots of rock climbing. We found some possible good crack climbs along the way.

My handsome man!

I know it's all brown, but it's still kind of pretty in it's own way.

I am always amazed at these huge boulders that are just sitting around out there. This one was sitting on a huge, slanted, rock slab, and it looked like the only thing keeping it from rolling away was those other smaller rocks!

At the end of the trail, I made sure to take a picture of this crack climb, which is called "Ed's Crack." That is one of the climbs that Jason tried at night and was kind of super scary. He only made it half-way up to that horizontal crack before we had to pack up and go home. It doesn't look like a big deal from down at this angle, but he says it was very intimidating.

On the drive home.

We stopped at Tree Rock, which is a tree growing out of a rock out in the middle of no-where between the lanes of the interstate. It was first found by the folks building the railroad back in the day. We were feeling touristy and decided to stop and check it out, even though we have driven past it a hundred times before.
