and
That's Missouri, just in case you didn't know. (I did miss a few signs in between, but the weather wasn't very pretty for photos that day.) Jason and I both got a lot of driving in that day.
We ended up driving half-way across Missouri until 2am when we decided to stop. We slept at a hotel for about 7 hours and then got up and went to visit an old college friend of Jason's. Then we went shopping at a store that we don't have at home. And then we headed the rest of the way to Jason's parents house and got there in time for supper.
After resting and recuperating for a few days, Jason's sister and her husband came down to have Christmas with everyone on Friday.
Needless to say, with only having 2 children, Jason's parents Christmas is pretty laid back compared to what we had just experienced at my family's house!
(I apologize for the poor quality of photos. For some reason, I wasn't getting good pictures that day.)
Jason's mom.
His dad.
His sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Dylan.
And the youngest child, Jason.
Yes, he was spoiled by being the youngest AND the only boy! (At least, that's what I tell him.)
As a long-standing family joke, Jessica and Jason each got a record of Petra.
Apparently that was their dad's favorite band and every time they were in the car, a Petra tape was playing. Supposedly Jessica and Jason can still sing each song, word for word, forwards and backwards, in their sleep. And I don't think Petra ever made it onto their personal list of favorite bands.
Jessica received a cardboard cutout of Sasquatch as another practical joke. I'm not sure of the story behind that one.
The next morning, though, this is how we found our rental car.
Our reception was held the following morning and was hosted by Jason's parents.
Jason's mom made all these delicious muffins and such, including a Twinkie cake, which was specifically requested by Jason.
We used most of the decorations from the first reception in Virginia.
Jason's mom had also put together these little bags of chocolates as a party favor.
A huge thanks to Jason's parents, and Jessica and Dylan, for putting this all together!
They even had sparkling grape juice for us to drink along with the Twinkie Cake, which was delicious!
And we got to open even more presents! One of the perks of getting married close to Christmas, I guess.
The following day, after the reception, Jason and I continued our drive home. Jason was pretty sick, so I ended up driving the rest of the way. We got home about 11:30pm that night. The next day, I unloaded our van into our house. We had picked up both of our life's belongings, which had been stored at our parent's houses, this trip. Jason spent the next several days in bed or on the couch alternating between sleeping, watching TV shows on his computer, and keeping up with the world on his phone.
Wow! You all sure did a lot of traveling. I hope you get to stay in one spot for a while. I loved seeing all the pictures and hearing about your stay in Missouri. Thanks for taking time to post them.
