Our First House Guests

About a week after we got back from traveling for our Christmas and reception functions in both Virginia and Missouri, my mom and youngest brother arrived for a week. I don't have a lot of pictures from that week, as I was working Monday - Friday and Jason had been gone for about 5-6 days and was then working over the weekend. On Saturday, when I had off of work, in between making cupcakes for our reception here, Glen and I went outside and worked in our backyard. The backyard has been  severely neglected and was full of leaves, no grass, and random junk. Glen started by cleaning out the dog-run beside the house which leads to the backyard.

He worked very hard to keep his face from being photographed.

After the weekend of working outside and then the reception, I was able to take Monday off from work and we went to the local ski hill. Glen skied, I boarded, and Mom stuck to the bunny hill.

After we left Mom on the bunny hill, Glen wanted to hit the Black Diamonds because he does those all the time at home. I, not having snowboarded for over a year, asked to start with an easy run, which got boring. So then we went over to the medium-sized runs.

We did go down one Black Diamond that day, but it was slow going for both of us. He declared the ski hill at home to be a wimpy hill after this day!
One evening before Mom and Glen left, I asked Glen to make a table to fit in the corner between the washing machine and the laundry sink. It was just a dead empty hole and I wanted something there. So with a bunch of the wood scraps we found outside and in the garage, he built this table. Then, he sanded and painted it with some old paint that we found in the basement.

So now our socks don't get lost in the dead hole, and we have a place to put the laundry soap and trashcan! Thanks Glen!

  1. Mom looks like she's wearing a helmet under her hood! Wow! I guess she was protecting her skull. I'm glad you got some good help while Glen was there. The pictures of him skiing are hilarious! Oh, it looks like you won't have trouble getting lost in your back yard. Just don't try to run out there, or you'll hit the fence during take-off!
