Today's product review features my first blog give-away!! Read on for the details...
Adam's 100% Natural Peanut Butter
About the Product: The original Adam's Peanut Butter Company was in started in 1916 in Tacoma, Washington. They were locally known for their Hot
Peanut Butter, and their slogan was, "The freshest thing in town." The well-known J. M. Smucker Company took over the local peanut butter company in 1998. (You can read more about Adam's Peanut Butter at www.adamspeanutbutter.com.) This peanut butter product claims to be 100% natural, no hydrogenated oils, and no trans fat.
In comparing the ingredient listing of Adam's 100% Natural Peanut Butter with other brands, it is significantly much simpler. I have looked at almost every single type of peanut butter carried in my local Wal-Marts (Peter Pan, Jif, Great Value, Skippy, Smart Balance), including the ones that say "Natural," and there are always at least four ingredients listed. Some of the ingredients that Adam's 100% Natural Peanut Butter does not use is: sugar, molasses, cane sugar, vegetable oil, or palm oil. The ingredients for Adam's 100% Natural Peanut Butter is simply: peanuts, and 1% or less of salt. It is simply just peanut butter.
Why I Chose This Product: A few years ago, I was on a search for a good, healthy, natural peanut butter that tasted good, and did not have a lot of added ingredients that are unnecessary in my opinion. I found Adam's 100% Natural Peanut Butter at my local Walmart, King Soopers (a Kroger sister store), and Natural Grocers and decided to try it.
Cost: $6.37 for a 36 ounce jar, or $3.32 for a 16 ounce jar, from walmart.com
Use: I use this for everything that takes peanut butter. But, most commonly, it is my snack; a spoonful, or two or three, a day, and sometimes with chocolate chips or apple slices. I just made four batches of Monster Cookies for my Recipe Reviews! post, and used this peanut butter in those recipes. There is natural oil separation with this peanut butter, requiring you to thoroughly stir the entire jar before using. It can be a little stiff to stir until you get all the oil incorporated back into the peanut butter. The consistency is actually a little runnier than other peanut butters, and can run or drip from whatever it is on. It is recommended to refrigerate this product after opening to prevent the peanut butter from going rancid, I assume. Personally, I have never refrigerated my peanut butter, and it has never gone rancid.
Conclusion: This is, hands down, my favorite peanut butter ever! It is delicious, and it tastes like peanuts which is what I expect peanut butter to taste like. There is a significant difference in taste if you compare Adams 100% Natural Peanut Butter with any other peanut butter, in my opinion.
Would I recommend this product to others? Absolutely! This is the only peanut butter I will buy if at all possible. Jason says I am a peanut butter snob, as I will search high and low for Adam's 100% Natural Peanut Butter before buying any other brand. Unfortunately, I have not found this specific peanut butter in any store since we moved, so I have been ordering it online through either jet.com or walmart.com. I prefer the crunchy peanut butter, but the creamy tastes just as good! I would highly recommend for everyone to look for this amazing product and give it a try!
Feedback: Have any of you ever heard of, and tried, Adam's 100% Natural Peanut Butter, and what did you think?

I am going to look for this peanut butter but I don't think it is sold in stores around here. We buy JIF because it is not as sweet as most other brands and because it is available pretty much anywhere. I don't like sweet peanut butter but neither do I like the dry pastiness of "natural" peanut butter.

Rachel! You were randomly drawn to win a jar of Adam's 100% Natural Crunchy Peanut Butter! It will be shipped this week! Thanks for commenting!
DeleteI think we've been getting Jif lately too, mainly because we can usually find it in the big jar 2 pack for when we're on our own Monster Cookie spree.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on the give-away! I used to buy the Jif All Natural peanut butter until I found the Adam's 100% Natural. If you ever find the Adam's give it a try and let me know what you think!
DeleteHave you ever tried Kroger's All Natural PB? We used that for a while and it is pretty good. I think it also is only peanuts and salt. I did refrigerate it because I have had bad experiences with rancid peanut butter (that wasn't even supposed to need refrigerated) at other people's houses. Now we buy Kroger brand regular PB. I think my very favorite for eating is Skippy's All Natural Extra Crunchy. Since I rarely eat peanut butter I don't buy it. A real splurge is when I have a baby, I'll buy the PB with honey to eat on graham crackers. They had little tubs of it in the hospital when Susannah & Sylvia were born and it was offered with graham crackers as a snack any time of day or night. It is really yummy of course. Buying it pre-mixed just cuts out a step and makes it easier to have a quick snack.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on the give-away! No, I don't think I've tried Kroger's All Natural PB. We don't have any Kroger stores (or sister stores) around here, sadly. I'll have to try it next time I find one. I was curious as to why you don't eat much peanut butter; is it because of the nut allergies your kiddos have had?
DeleteIt's just not a thing I enjoy. Occasionally I like a PB&J, peanut butter on graham crackers or an apple, but I'm just not a huge fan of peanut butter as a food. Sylvia and Charity love PB&J and if given a choice between a meat sandwich and PB&J, they pick the latter every single time. Also peanut butter is not filling or satisfying to me, so it is just "pleasure calories" when I do eat it in one of the ways I mentioned above.
DeleteThe kids eat plenty of PB, so we do almost always have it, I just don't buy the more expensive kind that *I* like because I don't eat enough to justify it.
