Colorado Bound, Episode II

After taking a break at the dog park (in Episode I) we went to see the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. They are some of the remains of the Anasazi peoples homes. If I remember correctly, there was a part of this display that was still being lived in up until the mid to late 1900's.

It was really neat to be able to walk inside of the different dwellings. They were crazy small and I believe that one family would typically live in a
2-room dwelling.
Right before he crawled inside the upstairs window/door to a single dwelling.

And before crawling out of the bottom level. There was a hole in the floor to go between the two levels.

Trying to get out of the dwelling. He thought the openings were a bit small, but I didn't have any trouble!

Gunther trying to soak up all the cool shade he could. Inside of the dwellings was very cool and he didn't want to come out of them!

A view of the outside of the dwellings.

One other stop we made that day was at the Cave of the Winds. I would've loved to have gone on a tour, but they didn't allow dogs and it was to hot to leave Gunther in the car, so we just looked around. There was a medium sized stone bear statue at the entrance to the Cave of the Winds that Gunther was ready to attack when we walked by. It was sooo funny! I wish I would have gotten a picture of it, because Gunther did not like it at all!
We did get a pretty good picture of the canyon below the Cave of the Winds entrance. It was pretty impressive.

At the end of the day, Gunther was pretty tired and fell fast asleep on his bed at the hotel.

To be continued...
