In-land and Eastward Bound

After leaving Umpherston Sinkhole in Continuing the Australian Holiday, we journeyed eastward back to Melbourne, Victoria. Instead of following the route we had just come, we took the in-land route to hopefully fulfill someone's wish to see all the farmland possible.

That person with the farmland wish is in this photo...
You can't pass up the opportunity to inspect a saleyard out in the middle of Aus!

This was Nigretta Falls which we detoured to see on a whim.

If I'm not mistaken, the first hump was Mt. Sturgeon and the second, Mt. Abrupt.

I believe this was Mt. Sturgeon up close,

And this Mt. Abrupt, but I'm not 100% positive.

Just some scenery out in the middle of No-Where, Victoria.

Continuing on our journey, we somehow found a large farm that we had to stop and investigate.

Someone (Linden) had to check out every piece of machinery he could find.

He kept hoping that someone on the farm would show up so he could talk to them, and as time passed, he became more and more bold with his checking things out!

He really wanted to drive this truck, since everything was on the wrong side from what he owns. But alas, no one showed up on the farm.

Finally, he had to check out their harvested grain.
Further down the road, we came across a grain storage operation.

This time, there were people around for him to talk to.

This is just a very small portion of the several grain bins they had! I'm guessing there were over 40 grain bins there.

And I guess when they run out of bins, they store it in the sheds and put hay bales in front as a block. That shed was one of the longest sheds I have ever seen; we couldn't fit it all in one photo without doing a panoramic photo (which we didn't know how to do!).

Another grain storage method was this. (I was going to call it above ground bunkers, but I'm not sure if that is correct or not.)

Yes, that is out lovely rental car in the photo.

And the last photo of the Victorian farmland excursion!

Check back for some adventures in the Melbourne CBD and Tasmania!
